A LITTLE CLARITY BEFORE YOUR NEXT STEP

Understand what makes your story matter.

I am an immigrant, a third-degree BJJ black belt, and a former BJJ coach. These guides share practical ways to understand and organize your story before we speak.

A medal tells part of the story.

The event, year, belt, division, and level of competition give a result its context. Save the official record, not just the podium photo.

The attorney you speak with is the one who prepares your case.

I am Eduardo Mattos, an immigration attorney admitted to practice law in California since 2020. My experience includes O-1, P-1A, and EB-1A petitions across a range of professional fields, alongside EB-2 NIW and marriage and family-based immigration matters.

I personally review your documents, develop the legal strategy, and prepare the petition and supporting arguments. Working closely with you helps me understand the details that matter and adapt the case to your circumstances. From preparation through each stage of the process, you work with the attorney who knows your case firsthand.

I am also an immigrant. I understand the personal importance of building a future in the United States. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a major part of my life and legal career. As a third-degree black belt and former coach, I understand the work behind my clients’ athletic and coaching achievements and bring that context to their immigration cases.

Away from my desk, I enjoy training jiu-jitsu, working out, hiking, and surfing. I’m also curious about developments in law, business, artificial intelligence, and emerging trends, and I enjoy exploring new ideas.

A SOLO PRACTICE. PERSONAL ATTENTION.

Your attorney. Your strategy.

1

You speak directly with me

I get to know your goals and answer your questions myself. Communication in English or Portuguese helps us discuss what matters to you clearly.

2

I personally prepare your case

I develop your individual strategy and personally carry it out. I work through every document, prepare the petition and legal arguments, and handle each aspect of your case myself.

3

I adapt to your needs

I take your priorities and timing into account and reassess the strategy as relevant circumstances change.

Changing policies. Personalized preparation.

Navigating today’s immigration environment requires careful preparation. I work directly with you to anticipate questions, identify potential weaknesses, and build a clear, well-supported case. As policies evolve, I assess what those changes mean for your case and adapt our strategy to your circumstances and goals.

BEFORE YOU GET IN TOUCH

You might have a few questions.

Will you personally prepare and handle my case?

Yes. I do the legal work myself: reviewing your evidence, developing the strategy, preparing your petition, and writing the legal arguments. I also handle our communication and guide you as the case progresses. When you ask a question or your circumstances change, you speak with the attorney who prepared your case and knows its details.

Do I need to know which visa to pursue?

No. Start with your background and what you want to do in the United States. The initial conversation can help identify the options that may warrant a more detailed review.

Can you guide me if I don’t have enough evidence yet?

Yes. I offer immigration coaching to help you understand where you stand and what could strengthen your case. Together, we review your background, identify gaps, and plan practical next steps, including evidence we can gather and professional achievements to work toward. You may already have accomplishments that need better documentation, or you may need time to develop a stronger record. I provide a personalized plan and an honest assessment of your readiness to apply.

Can we work together if I live abroad?

Yes. I work with immigration clients throughout the United States and internationally. You can communicate directly with me in English or Portuguese.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. I offer payment plans to help make legal fees more manageable. We can discuss the available options when we talk about your case.

What should I include in my first message?

Tell me what you want to accomplish and any important deadlines. For a career-based inquiry, include a brief professional summary; for a family matter, describe the type of help you need. You do not need to assemble a complete case before getting in touch.

How do I choose a U.S. immigration attorney?

Check that the attorney is in good standing with a U.S. state or territory bar and is eligible to represent you before USCIS. Ask about experience with your type of case, who will handle the strategy, the scope of the service, and the fees. You should understand the requirements, the evidence needed, and the issues that remain uncertain. In my practice, you speak directly with me, in English or Portuguese.
